We value Relationships - Whanaungatanga
We believe that it takes a village to raise a child.
We value the unique place of Maori as tangata whenua.
We provide loving environments focused on safety, security, stability and trust.
We value relationships and aim to provide a home away from home environment for all children.
Our tamariki are supported to grow, develop and learn - as they form relationships with each other and with others in the wider learning community.
We value tuakana teina relationships where tamariki of all ages learn from each other.
We provide flexible, affordable childcare options with small ratios.
We have a passion for learning and continual growth.
E hara taku toa I te toa takitahi, he toa takitini
My strength is not as an individual, but as a collective
Village Kids Curriculum
Relationships
Te Whāriki: Well-being
Tamariki will have opportunities to learn through responsive and reciprocal relationships with people places and things. Loving reciprocal relationships foster a sense of trust, warmth and security.
He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!
What is the most important thing in the world? It is people! It is people! It is people!
Collaboration
Te Whāriki: Belonging
Tamariki will develop a strong sense of connection, as a community of learners. Within the community the ability to work together, tuakana teina especially, is encouraged and valued. Acceptance is the norm and the curriculum is inclusive, ensuring everyone knows that they have a place. There is respect.
Whāia te kotahitanga o te wairua. Mā te rangimarie me te aroha e paihere.
Pursue unity of spirit. Be bound together by peace and love.
Identity
Te Whāriki: Contribution
Tamariki will know the value of their identity, language and culture. Equitable opportunities will recognise and enhance their mana.
Tamariki will engage and understand the cultural richness within the community that supports them. They will develop understanding of, and connection to, the diverse cultural narratives that enrich their lives.
Tū mai e moko. Te whakaata o ō mātua. Te moko o ō tīpuna. Stand strong, O moko.
The reflection of your parents. The blueprint of your ancestors.
Communication
Te Whāriki: Communication
Tamariki will connect to and explore their feelings. They will develop strategies that enable them to express their needs, in ways that nurture the development of positive relationships with others. Tamariki will explore the world of Language, Literacy and Numeracy, and The Arts.
Ka whāngaia, ka tupu, ka puāwai.
That which is nurtured blossoms and grows.
Sense Making
Te Whāriki: Exploration
Tamariki will be curious and confident, leading their own interests and learning through a play-based curriculum. Within this curriculum tamariki can try out ideas and develop working theories, in both familiar experiences and new opportunities.
Mā te rongo, ka mōhio, mā te mōhio, ka mārama, mā mārama, ka mātau, mā te mātau, ka ora
From listening comes knowledge, from knowledge comes understanding, from understanding comes wisdom, form wisdom comes well-being.
